Laura POrter

I earned my bachelor’s degree from Ozark Christian College with a double major in Biblical Literature and Psychology, and I earned my master’s degree in counseling from Pittsburg State University in 1998. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Kansas and a National Certified Counselor with the National Board for Certified Counselors.

I work with couples, individuals and families focusing on many issues affecting their well being including: psychological and emotional issues, social, marital and family relationships, substance abuse and codependency, personal and professional goals, spirituality, and coping with trauma, loss and life stressors.

I integrate Biblical principles and wisdom with empirically proven techniques in counseling sessions. Theoretical models for treatment include Family Systems Theory, Gottman Method, Cognitive Behavioral Theory, and Brief Therapy models.

My counseling approach is based on each client’s specific needs and therapy goals.
